Companies With Strong Christian Values

As a Christian job seeker, it’s usually best to find a company that fits the same moral values or vocation as you. In this section, you will find a list of prominent companies and organizations that have strong Christian values in their mission and exemplify relevant morals in their work.

Chick-fil-A

Chick-fil-A is one of the better-known companies that openly states the Christian values behind its mission. The founder of the famous fast-food company based his entire business on Biblical principles that he also believed to be good for business. Chick-fil-A’s corporate purpose is essentially its mission statement, which requires the company “to glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us. To have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A.” Explore the company’s job board.

Take a look at their job board to find open positions.

Hobby Lobby

Another company that is extremely open about its Christian values, Hobby Lobby, shares its religious values in its mission statement. The statement reads, “We are committed to … honoring the Lord in all we do by operating the company in a manner consistent with Biblical principles.” This is the reason the arts and crafts chain keeps its stores closed on Sundays. View its open roles on its career center website.

Religious Accommodations and Discrimination Protection

In the U.S., you are protected from discrimination as a practicing Christian. The law protects you from multiple conditions, including firings, pay, job assignments, and certain benefits based on your religion. It is also illegal to harass someone based on their religious beliefs. The law also states that the employer is required to reasonably accommodate an employee’s religious beliefs or practices, meaning they might be required to include flexible scheduling for holy days, shift substitution or swaps, job reassignments, and more.

Alternatively, an employer does not have to accommodate an employee’s religious beliefs if it causes undue hardship to the employer, such as a compromise of workplace safety, a decrease in productivity or efficiency, or causing other employees to shoulder a larger portion of a shared workload.

It is, however, illegal for the employer to make adjustments to your job assignment based on your religious beliefs or practices.

For example, say you work with customers on a daily basis. If the employer suddenly assigns you a noncontact role because you’re a Christian and they fear that one or more customers will be offended by your beliefs, this is a violation of the law considered to be religious discrimination.

Networking and Community Involvement for Christian Job Seekers

Building a strong professional network is essential in any job search, and for Christian job seekers, faith-based communities offer valuable opportunities. Beyond online job boards, connecting with others through your church, Christian organizations, or ministry events can lead to job opportunities aligned with your values.

Join Christian professional organizations

Many Christian organizations offer networking events, workshops, and mentorship programs. Christian Business Network and the Christian Business Fellowship Association focus on bringing together professionals who share a commitment to Christian values. These organizations often host events that allow you to network, share career advice, and learn from experienced Christian professionals.

Leverage Your Church Community

Your church can be a powerful networking hub. Attend career-related events, offer to help with community projects, or simply start conversations with other members about your job search. Church newsletters or bulletins may also contain job listings from local Christian-owned businesses or nonprofits.

Volunteer for Faith-Based Initiatives

Volunteering not only allows you to give back but also opens doors for networking and potential job opportunities. Participating in community service or ministry outreach programs can help you meet people who share your values and may know of job openings. Highlighting your volunteer work on your resume also shows your commitment to serving others, which is often valued by Christian employers.

By expanding your professional network and becoming more involved in your community, you increase your chances of finding a role that not only matches your skillset but also aligns with your faith and values.

Falmouth Lutheran Church
(987) 654-3210
[email protected]

Dear Mr. Johnson,

A recently ordained pastor, I’ve devoted myself to community service to provide spiritual guidance and spread the teachings of Christ to those most in need. As a ministry volunteer with the Boston Teen Challenge, I delivered ministry services to teenagers and adults suffering from behavioral and substance abuse issues. My passion for religious outreach and public service will allow me to thrive in the pastor role with Falmouth Lutheran Church.

Your congregation’s mission to provide spiritual guidance and essential services to the poorest members of the community draws me to apply for this position. I can be a valuable asset to your organization based on my early career accomplishments:

  • Delivered pastoral counseling to congregation members and taught community Bible classes to facilitate the spiritual and personal growth of students
  • Coordinated with counselors, pastors, and volunteers to plan events and community service initiatives, including food drives, Toys for Tots, and fundraising efforts for funeral expenses
  • Communicated with the local population and supported outreach initiatives to invite members of the community to join the congregation

I hope to speak with you further regarding how my community outreach experience can help grow your congregation. You may contact me via phone or email for any additional questions you may have about my background. I appreciate your time and consideration.
