Medical Receptionist Cover Letter Checklist

A strong medical receptionist cover letter includes five main elements:

1. Heading. Find a professional stylized template to make this information stand out. Your heading should include:

  • Your name, title, and contact information
  • The date your letter was written
  • The addressee’s information

2. Salutation. If you know the name of the hiring manager make sure to use it: Mr. or Ms. [Last Name]. If you’re unsure of their gender pronouns, Dear [First and Last Name] works fine. And if you don’t know their name at all, you can use “Dear Hiring Manager.”

3. Introduction. Open your letter with an attention-grabbing paragraph, introducing yourself and expressing your interest in the job.

4. Body paragraphs. Describe your relevant education, skills, and professional experience in two paragraphs. Using a bulleted list can create interest within the body of your letter and draw the eye to your main selling points.

5. Closing section. Use your closing section as a CTA (call to action). Request an interview with the hiring manager and consider adding a P.S. section below to list one last achievement. This is an excellent way to leave a lasting impression.

The introduction of your letter is your chance to grab the hiring manager’s attention. An impressive way to do that is by choosing your biggest achievement from your resume and highlighting it within this section. You want to show you’re qualified for the job with a real-world accomplishment that’s relevant to the job. Steer clear of stating simple facts; this is your chance to stand out with something specific and unique to you.
