However, there are resources and job boards available on the internet designed to help aid Christian job seekers at all skill levels. On this resource page, you will find examples of job boards (linked for your convenience) that post open roles daily, examples of Christian-owned companies and companies that practice Christian values in their work, and resources for unemployed Christian workers or those who are looking to make a career transition into a field that better suits their religious beliefs and values.

Vocational Goals as a Christian

As a believer of the Christian faith, you might wonder what success truly looks like in your religion. Luckily for those who practice and follow Christianity closely, success is spelled out in the Bible quite clearly. In multiple sections of the Bible, it talks about what success should look like for a Christian. In the Gospel of Mark, it states that success is “obedience to God, empowered by the Spirit of God, motivated by the love for God, and directed toward the advancement of the kingdom of God.” The measure of success for a Christian should simply be a ratio of talents used to talents received and is not measured by the amount of money one has or how much worth an individual carries.

How you can Trust God While Looking for a Job That Aligns With Your Beliefs

While looking through job sites for a position that matches your own Christian beliefs, you may find yourself doubting or second guessing your decision to work for a company that aligns with your beliefs. This is a completely normal occurrence and it’s important to remember that your faith will always be there for you, even during the hard times. Finding a way to your new career path might seem like a challenge, but there are ways to make the path a little bit easier. For example, focusing on building your relationship with fellow parishioners can help ease the stress of your job search and could even benefit you by creating new relationships and connections with those who share your beliefs. This perspective could also connect you with people who may know of job opportunities that match what you’re looking for.

Religious Accommodations and Discrimination Protection

In the United States, you are protected from discrimination as a practicing Christian. The law protects you from multiple conditions, including firings, pay, job assignments, and certain benefits based on your religion. It is also illegal to harass someone based on their religious beliefs. The law also states that the employer is required to reasonably accommodate an employee’s religious beliefs or practices, meaning they might be required to include flexible scheduling for holy days, shift substitution or swaps, job reassignments, and more. Alternatively, an employer does not have to accommodate an employee’s religious beliefs if it causes undue hardship to the employer, such as a compromise of workplace safety, a decrease in productivity or efficiency, or causing other employees to shoulder a larger portion of a shared workload.

It is, however, illegal for the employer to make adjustments to your job assignment based on your religious beliefs or practices.

For example, if you work with customers on a daily basis and the employer suddenly assigns you a noncontact role because you’re a Christian and they fear that a customer or customers will be offended by your beliefs, this is a violation of the law and is considered to be religious discrimination.
