Below are three key tips to consider in working on your cover letter:
1. Use the correct sentence structure
When writing the body paragraph(s) of your cover letter, try to have each sentence begin with reference to something you’ve already said (preferably something in the sentence right before). This sentence structure helps you form a strong link between individual points, making the overall paragraph more cohesive and prone to sustain the reader’s interest.

2. Show your alignment with the school
When drafting your cover letter for a teaching job that interests you, consider the school’s stated mission and how it aligns with your own. Often the best way to do this is to directly quote a phrase from the job posting. Direct quotes allow you to impress on the hiring manager that you read their specific job posting and found aspects of the organization that intrigued you.
